Where to stay?

La Escuelita doesn’t provide accomodation, but we do have plenty of tips on areas to stay in Granada and how to find accomodation. (Organising this solo will also save you quite a few pennies!)

  • Homestay Granada Spanish Course Immersive

    Homestay

This option is for someone who is looking to "go all in" and is comfortable living with new people and adapting to their house rules. You can choose to live with just one other person or with a whole family. This experience will certainly throw you in the deep end in terms of practising your Spanish!

Browse through different hosts on Homestay, before registering and signing up once you are ready to commit.

  • Spare Room

This is a good option if you would like to stay a little longer, have more independance than a homestay but not break the bank. Locals and expats often advertise spare rooms on Idealista, Airbnb and on Facebook groups (e.g Expats in Granada)

  • Private Apartment

As we are sure you are aware, tourist apartments on Booking and Airbnb are growing by the day. This is a good option if you are looking for a short stay. Prices in Granada vary A LOT! If you are looking for something budget-friendly, then avoid the city centre and move towards the lower end of town (Figares/Camino de Ronda), past Gran Via (Plaza Triunfo) or neighbourhood El Zaidin. These areas are not as 'instagrammable' but you will enjoy the more normal every-day vibe.

Otherwise, you can try your luck in the centre, Albaicin area or (our personal fave) El Realejo.

If you choose the Albaicin (oldest area of Granada) you may well bag a view of the Alhambra from your bedroom, but be aware it's hilly and cobbley. If you are concerned about access, opt for lower Albaicin and use google maps to see exactly where it is. Also, the street Carrerea del Darro gets extremely busy with tourists and can get a bit tiring if you have to take this route everyday.
